Pray with Faith

Is it any wonder that, when we stagger at any promise of God through unbelief, we do not receive it? Not that faith merits an answer, or in any way earns it, or works it out; but God has made believing a condition of receiving, and the Giver has a sovereign right to choose His own terms of gift. – Rev. Samuel Hart

I asked God for a good friend but God in His great favor gave me someone amazing – Anna. God works in mysterious ways folks. Pray with Faith and Pray without ceasing. “Nothing lies beyond the reach of prayer except that which lies outside the will of God”. Feel free to use the image as you please as I own the full rights to it. God bless!

Best is yet to come

There was a woman who had been diagnosed with a terminal illness and had been given three months to live. So as she was getting her things “in order,” she contacted her pastor and had him come to her house to discuss certain aspects of her final wishes. She told him which songs she wanted sung at her service, what scriptures she would like read, and what outfit she wanted to be buried in. The woman also requested to be buried with her favourite Bible. Everything was in order and the pastor was preparing to leave when the woman suddenly remembered something very important to her.

“There’s one more thing,” she said excitedly.

“What’s that?” came the pastor’s reply.

“This is very important,” the woman continued. “I want to be buried with a fork in my right hand.”

The pastor stood looking at the woman, not knowing quite what to say. “That surprises you, doesn’t it?” the woman asked.

“Well, to be honest, I’m puzzled by the request,” said the pastor.

The woman explain, “in all my years of attending church socials and potluck dinners, I always remember that when the dishes of the main course were being cleared, someone would inevitably lean over and say, ‘Keep your fork.’ It was my favorite part because I knew that something better was coming … like velvety chocolate cake or deep-dish apple pie. Something wonderful, and with substance! So, I just want people to see me there in that casket with a fork in my hand and I want them to wonder ‘What’s with the fork?’ Then I want you to tell them: ‘Keep your fork… the best is yet to come.’”

The pastor’s eyes welled up with tears of joy as he hugged the woman goodbye. He knew this would be one of the last times he would see her before her death. But he also knew that the woman had a better grasp of heaven than he did. She KNEW that something better was coming.

At the funeral people were walking by the woman’s casket and they saw the pretty dress she was wearing and her favourite Bible and the fork placed in her right hand. Over and over, the pastor heard the question, “What’s with the fork?” And over and over he smiled.

During his message, the pastor told the people of the conversation he had with the woman shortly before she died. He also told them about the fork and about what it symbolized to her. The pastor told the people how he could not stop thinking about the fork and told them that they probably would not be able to stop thinking about it either. He was right.

So the next time you reach down for your fork, let it remind you, oh so gently, that the best is yet to come.

Remain in the vine

Ever felt like you’re always being watched? If your answer was “No”…that’s no good. Because, you SHOULD feel like you’re being watched all the time. You see God is always watching over us along with the heavenly hosts. That might be comforting to know but what I am about to say might not be. You see, the evil one is always watching over you too. He never takes a break for He knows his time is short on this earth. He doesn’t like to leave God’s people alone.

In the area of Information Technology, there is a profession out there informaly known as “White Hat Hackers”. A formal name for it may be Cyber Security Professionals. They’re quite similar to any other hackers out there except their intentions are different, which seperates them out from the rest. They do it for the good of the company or business they are working for. They try to find loop holes within a computer system or a software before the hackers do. That’s their full-time job.

Think of the Evil one as the hackers of this world – Persistently trying to break-in, intrude, steal, cause loss, and damage. It says in John 10:10, “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy…” (NIV). He is always on the look-out for your weaknessses. He knows them very well and will do whatever it takes to use it against you and destroy your life. The bigger the threat you are to him, the more carefully he seems to watch you.

Now think of Holy Spirit – a White Hat Hacker. He is always wanting to look out for you by pointing out your weaknesses, intrusion points, and parts where your enemies can infiltrate you. He is always working in your favor. He wants to help you stay safe and secure. The more we listen to his advice (still small voice), the better off we are. He never enforces his opinion on us. He only presents it to us that we might make a choice.

Therefore, we ought to remain in the vine. It says in John 15:4, “Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.” (NIV). The moment you start to ignore His advices, its time to watch your own back. You’re asking for trouble.

We need to learn to listen to the Holy Spirit’s voice and simply obey.

Hope for your hopelessness

Have you lost hope? Are you on the brink of giving up? Do you feel like the situations you are in are only becoming worse? Do you question on whether God is still listening to you? If your answer is “Yes!” to all or even some of them…I have some good news for you – a hopeful one.

Just give up!

You read it right. Just let it go. This might sound chessy now. I meant to say give up the battle which is not yours. Give up the fight you’re not meant to face. But don’t give up one thing – Hope. You see, Jesus went through it all when He was here on this planet. His battles were much harder and His fight was more brutal but when He gave it all up on that cross, there is one thing he never gave up – Hope. He knew He will conquer death and rise again victorious.

What does that tell you? We ought to be like Jesus. Never give up your Hope. Our God comes in at a perfect time. He is there when we’re no longer able to take that one last step. When we are inches away from loosing it all. When we are on the edge of the mountain. He is never too late and never too early. He is there just in time. Oh what a wonderful God we serve.

When I felt hopeless, these were some things which encouraged me and kept me going…

1) Our God is a loving God.

Jehovah God is not sitting up there with a sceptre trying to punish us and give us hard time. If that’s what He wanted, why would He send His ONLY begotten son that we might have life and life more abundant? We need to realize that there are battles in our life that are not ours to face. We need to learn to rest on His word and have that hope in our savior.

2) Never let the evil one tell you that you’re guilty.

Many times a lot of God’s people lose Hope. They are always depressed and lowly because they keep listening to Satan (accuser of the bretheren) telling them how worst of a sinner they are. How they always disobey God in some way or the other. How God is very disappointed with them. And how they can be of no use to Him or this World. Satan and His good old lies (Hasn’t changed much from Adam and Eve’s time, has he?).

When God says you are forgiven – You are forgiven INDEED! Period. You are washed in the blood of the lamb. God will find no sin in you because of Jesus and His sacrifice. We are free and that includes freedom from guilt. Never let Satan tell you these lies. With that said, do not sin against God thinking  you ccan keep asking Him for forgivness and continue on with your sin. That’s abusing what God has so preciously purchased with every drop of His blood.

3) Pray & Read the Bible.

This is probably the most important part of it all. When all hope is lost – Pray and Read God’s word. I can mention 100’s of times when God gave me comfort after reading HIs word and praying to Him. I always go to Him just as I am. Think of your worldly father or mother. You approach them just as you are. Because you know you are accepted and loved by them no matter how you are. Same thing applies here – God loves you and me, more than we could ever wrap our heads around. Talk to Him and He will hear your cry.

God bless and Remember never lose hope in your heavenly father even when all seems lost. He is the almighty and the faithful one all through the ages. He will come and save you (Remember that song?).
