God’s Not Dead

I had such a great time this evening watching the movie – ‘God’s not dead’ with my family. If you haven’t watched it yet, you should definitely take time to watch it.

The movie showcases unique characters who all get to know about Jesus in one way or another by one man’s stand for God. Many times, we’re faced with situations quite similar to what this young man in the movie faced and our actions might not always be the same.

We need to stand up in what we believe in and be ready to defend our faith. If we as Christians can’t answer some simple questions or know things in the Bible, How can we stand as a witness or be able to face the world. The world is looking for answers but they don’t know that all they need is an answer – Jesus.

The world is changing. People are less accepting of our faith, less tolerant, and ignorant. It’s at these times we’ve been left with someone very precious – the Holy Spirit.

We need to learn to rely on that still small voice. When we do that, beautiful things begin to take place. Our God is a living God and he deserves all the glory, honor and praise. Let’s give Him all He deserves.

Your willpower is powerless in the Spiritual realm!

Many of us have strong willpower. We aim for things and we get them done. We always accomplish on what we set out to do. We are goal-oriented people who avoid any distractions that may jeopardize our success.

And many of us end up applying our acquired or natural talent in the Spiritual matters too. We tend to be strong when it comes to temptations and determined to overcome them. We try really hard with our own strength to not speak lies, for instance.

Despite putting in all the effort to stay strong, we fail quite often. We end up doing what we hate doing or what we aimed to avoid (Romans 7:15). We cannot stop falling into the trap set by the evil one with our strong willpower.

In other words, our willpower is powerless in the spiritual realm. You see, what we are fighting against is NOT against flesh and blood but against the principalities and powers of darkness (Ephesians 6:12).

Its like using a sword to fight against a B2 Bomber or other Airpower. You’re no match when the B2 Bomber drops 230kg bombs from the air. We need an equal contender to win this battle.

This is where the Spirit of God – the Holy Spirit comes in. We need his guidance, strength and power to overcome and win our spiritual battles. Ask God to fill you with His Spirit today. Put on the armour of God (Ephesians 6:10-18) and take stand against the evil one (James 4:7).
