Are you in want of something?

Today, I have been reminded of one of the most important things that many of us forget with time. A lot of us tend to forget why we are here in this World…Where we are heading out to?…What are we supposed to be doing? We forget the fact that we’re here for a purpose and that God created us for His glory. We are called to shine as light in this dark world.

Do you know what God’s will is for your life? I know I’ve struggled to find out what His will was for my life. The bibles says in Romans 12:2 – “Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect” (NLV).

I don’t think God could have been any more clear on this. We need to allow God to transform us into this new person. Our thinking will be transformed and we no longer seek to acquire the things of this world but rather strive to acquire the things above. In others words, we will no longer be in want of something. This becomes a good checkpoint. When God is your shepherd, you will not be in want (Psalms 23:1).

I know I personally have desires time to time for a nice car or a beautiful house but I am not in need of these things. So the next time, Satan takes you out for a spin and tries to indulge you in worldly pleasure as he did to Jesus (Matthew 4:8-9), rebuke it and set yourselves right before God immediately. Ask God for his divine help and let not the worldly desires get to you. We are here for a purpose so let’s fulfil that and head home.

Let’s obey Him because we love him not because we have to. Be a strong soldier in God’s army. If a soldier loses his determination to win the battle, he has already been defeated in his heart. Let’s not lose our determination. Let’s run the race faithfully till the end and overcome this world just like our father did.

Forgiveness vs Being Saved

A lot of us get confused and use these words synonymously without truly comprehending the meaning. Jesus said to the woman who was committing adultery, “Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?” for which she replied, “No one, sir…”. “Then neither do I condemn you,” Jesus declared. “Go now and leave your life of sin.”

Here you see the 2 fold gospel…forgiveness and no condemnation. To illustrate the difference, Bro. Zac used an example of a father and son. He warned his son not to go and play near a deep pit that was being dug near their home. The son doesn’t heed the warning and eventually ends up falling in that deep pit. The son cried out to his father and his father comes rushing down.

The son tell his father, “I am sorry dad. I know you told me not to play near pit but I did anyway”. Hearing this, the father tells his son, “Its alright son, I forgive you” and walks away. Has the son been forgiven? Yes, he sure has been. Has he been saved? No, he hasn’t been saved from the pit yet. This is where the key term, “Grace” comes into play as well.

Romans 5:20 tells us, “But where sin increased, grace increased all the more…”. Now does this mean we can continue in our sin since grace seems to abound even more. Absolutely Not! What it does mean is the clear illustration of how we were once under the law and how we now have ‘grace’ available to us through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

So what is grace there for? Its there to give us victory. Under the law, we were condemned. We were sinners and there was no way out. But under His grace, we have strength given to us, to become over comers of our sinful life. It clearly states in 2 Corinthians 12:9 – But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.

When we feel powerless in our sinful life and we have the grace of God to overcome, it simply means we have Christ’s power to rest on.

Jesus has come not just rescue us from our sinful life but to save us also. See Acts 16:31, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved–you and your household.”

What do you see?

Just a couple of days ago, we had a wonderful family who came over to our place for dinner. They have a sweet little daughter named Vinnie and we loved playing with her.

Topic came up about construction and Dad asked me to show this couple some photos of a construction site taken while constructing a dream house.

This little girl got curious and leaned over to see the laptop screen. She couldn’t see it clearly. So I showed her personally what we showed her parents. While I was doing so… Her parents praised of the builders and architects involved. They were impressed with how it was coming along.

The little girl looked at these photos of construction pillars & building structures and said to me something I’ll probably never forget. She said, “It’s…broken!”

While pondering on this… I think this is how we can be sometimes. Here is God (Architect and a Builder) trying to construct something beautiful that others can benefit from and we (children) think we’re just broken structures. I think we need understand and see it from the architect’s perspective to really appreciate the ‘work in progress’ .

Until we do that…We can never walk tall and proud of our saviors work in us because we realize not who we truly are. That we are the workmanship of God.

We need to grow up. We need to become the sons of God. I think we’ve been His children for too long now. Don’t you think?

Ever thought about what He had in mind

As technology advances day by day… Our work is supposed to reduce and we’re supposed to have more free time. This doesn’t seem to be the case.

We are sometimes so caught up in work that we start to neglect God. Just before I head off to sleep… I say my prayers. It’s at that time… that I actually start to think about God (very sad to say). I mean… Sure I remember Him all through the day  but he is not what I have in mind always.

I want this to be the case. I want to meditate on Him. So I am starting to make an effort to give Him the time he deserves.

To pause for a while in life and think “Lord, what do you have on mind?” or “Daddy… What do you think I should do?”  Has it always been “I”  or “me”  sort of attitude?

Where is that first love? That very first time you heard about Him and experienced His presence.

Never compromise

The standards of this world are continuing to come down. What we once thought was disgusting horrible sin is now considered as a norm or generally acceptable.

As we walk this walk… Always remember never compromise on God’s standards. Its those little compromises that distract your walk in that narrow path which we are meant to be in.

My pastor always says… “It only takes a little yeast to work through the entire dough”. So true it is… A little compromise can make you go a long way off and you may never get a chance to get back on the right path.
